purple fishes fly away
water falls into the blue lake
it's a swim upstream on somedays
but Turtle has to lay her eggs
he got 3 wishes when he found that lamp
a magic carpet was the best he made
and the girl from Kansas had it made
but she went home when she should a stayed
i've met some children on my way
talked to boys in the willow shade
we went swimming on the last day
gave me a bottle of wine
paper horses run away
that little child runs all day
a yellow bird and a black snake
a glass of beer and chips
purple fishes fly away
water falls into the blue lake
it's a swim upstream on somedays
but Turtle has to lay her eggs

Automobile

all of us kids, go down to the town
boys on the corner, hang out
hey pass the wine, come for a ride
in my cousins, automobile
street lights pass by, pedestrians smile
a boy steals a kiss from a pal
in the back seat, we watch the street
and my cousin laughs at the crowd
down by sea, we get out of the car
we see a friend at the Bar
hey John your sweet, buy me a drink
but watch the cops there not so cute
around the town, we walk around
Robert and Ricky and John
we watch the lights, such a pretty sight
hay Bob this isn't bad weed.
my cousin pulls up, we all pile in
off to the beach in a car
the night is young, boys having fun
give me a kiss in the dark
down by sea, we get out of the car
we see a friend at the Bar
hey John your sweet, buy me a drink
but watch the cops there not so cute

Boy Lost
03:55

Alexander walked alone
over the bridge into a blue zone
where black night and starry sky
the sounds of the town make you cry
Alexander was 13 years old
he liked the boy 3 doors down
but please don't tell cause you burn in hell
the sounds at school make you hide
lovely wishes filled his mind
and beautiful boys made him smile
when you see him in heaven give him a kiss
love and affection is no crime
there was a boy, a beautiful child
who hanged from the sky at the top of the stairs
where black night and falling stars
stopped the sounds that made him cry
lovely wishes filled his mind
and beautiful boys made him smile
when you see him in heaven give him a kiss
love and affection is no crime

Deep Water
02:24
|
|||
Water is deep.
The road goes on forever.
And some day we'll make
this world, a little brighter.
The rain is sweet.
The cows are in the clover.
And when wee meet
we'll be closer.
The sky is wide.
The rivers flow together.
and when they meet
the waves go out forever.
Water is deep.
The road goes on forever.
And some day we'll make
this world, a little brighter.

New Destination
05:06
|
|||
we'll take a car
to a new destination
and if it rains
we have an umbrella
the streets won't be gold
but the music's fantastic
me and my pal
we'll build a new town
in our new town
everyone will be happy
we'll spread joy around
even talk radio
won't bring us down
and we'll be so beautiful
me and my pal
my pal is Al
all over the world
people are dancing
and making love
thats not a problem
so lets take the car
to a new beginning
me and my pal
we'll build a new town

Robert Frost

Robert Frost
picks up a pen
on the white sheet the words
fall into place again
and like Robert
i try to speak
about the road through the woods
the path to the sea
but of the one
i can not sing
even Robert Frost
can not speak
when Herman Melville
went to sea
even Moby Dick
couldn't read
the shape of clouds calligraphy
the writing on on my mind,
the farewell words
i couldn't believe
but of the one
i can not sing
even Herman Melville
does not speak
what Walt Whitman
said to me
in the letter that he sent
was a comfort
and like Walt
i tried to read
a face in a picture
a voice , a memory
but of the one
i can not sing
even Walt Whitman
did not speak

The Man on a Stage
05:12
|
|||
the lights go down
as the last show comes to a close
the singer plays
one last song that we all know
and the old man
on the stage takes his bow and goes
the lights come up
the saddest clown i ever saw
makes us laugh
and mends our broken hearts
he paints a smile
on our face as he waves good by
the company
takes one last bow, the play
comes to an end
the lights are turned down low
we rise to our feet
and give it up for this magic show
the lights go down
as the last show comes to a close
the singer plays
one last song that we all know
and old the man
on the stage takes his bow and... goes

Woman on a Swing
05:16
|
|||
a boy in blue shorts runs down the beach
does a summersault his name is Louie
a woman on a swing under the trees
watches an old man swimming in the sea
la la la
and down in the shacks where the poor people live
the boy in blue shorts gives his mom a kiss
be careful Louie don't swim out too far
if you got lost in the sea it would break your mother's heart
"and Louie sings" la la la
a girl with green eyes lies on the beach
she likes that silly boy playing in the sea
o' Louie pretty Louie look at me
but Louie smiles his blue eyes are only for the sea
a boy in blue shorts runs down the beach
does a summersault his name is Louie
a woman on a swing under the trees
watches an old man swimming in the sea
